Barone played in the fourth season Seinfeld Episode The Shoes as Gail Cunningham the chef that wanted Elaine Benes shoes. In the early 1990s she was a regular member of Carol & Company with actress Carol Burnett. Barone appeared as Carol Willick Geller's ex-wife on the show's first Friends appearance. The show ended her time as she was seeking a more full-time role she was taken over by Jane Sibbett. She appeared on The Jeff Foxworthy Show for the initial season (1995-1996) as well as in The War at Home from 2005 until the year 2007. Barone played a role in Daddio which was a sitcom that was aired from 2000. Barone started her role as the mother of Bella Thorne's CeCe Jones in 2010 three years following the end the film The War at Home. Barone's husband actor Matthew Glave guest starred in two episodes of Shake It Up as J.J. Jones who was the husband of Barone's character.
